They speak of our book about "Il Foglio", June 10, 2010 LITURGIES
Francis Agnoli
For many years, almost 40, as the days of Christ in the desert, in the Church who believed that the liturgical question was central, was often ignored or mocked.
seemed that the Faith is essentially, or only, action in the world. "From the masses to the masses," they said among the Catholics, "adult" in the seventies. Then, suddenly, almost like a fire that was smoldering under the ashes, the idea that the liturgy is "source and summit" of the inner life has taken over the foot. Gradually, of course. But impetuously.
Per don Finotti, Scritture alla mano, la liturgia è “quell’atteggiamento di adorazione, di stupore, di lode, di sottomissione, di obbedienza, di consegna di sé, di amore and trusting obedience, which rises from the heart of man to God and that involves a whole all the faculties and the spiritual life choices. " It is' the acceptance of God and His majesty in our lives, which is expressed in worship and obedience contemplative operational ".
contrast, when the liturgy is corrupt, hopelessly born idolatry. The first liturgy are, therefore, the angels, whose mandate is twofold: "to worship God and serve humankind and the world." Contemplation and action, as in the creative work of God, as in the hour of the Benedictine Monks et labora. Contemplation of Truth, which generates joy, gratitude, praise, and that in turn translates into action loving, compassionate, towards God and neighbor. The first "collapse of the liturgy" is, instead, with the Rebel Angels: Lucifer, with its "Do not serviam" refuse obedience, praise, service, worship, and cancels its life-giving relationship with God
Here, read these and other considerations Don Finotti seems to me to see the evil in the world, and of the Church today is born from the "collapse of the liturgy." Adoration, in fact, hit the pride of man: there would not, Catholics "adults" who are always trying to fix the devil and holy water, where every Sunday in the Rite liturgical year, we prayed on his knees before God, as appropriate. There would not that terrible Babel of theologians, priests, cardinals, who want to excel in the everyday disobey the deposit of faith. Where there is no worship, in fact, is the protagonist, and demand: to adjust the revelation in its own way, to stand, in the face of God, before their own peers.
There are rumors, sociology, illusion to transform reality with their own strength, the action is sterile, purely human, which springs from the contemplation of truth;'s philanthropy, not charity; utopia, politics, not spirit supernatural. The man who do not want to worship, he puts himself and his desires as a measure of all things, can not stand the lure, sometimes poignant, Truth, struggling to admit his guilt to enter the confessional, head down, crying for his sins. He does not like the words "sin," "repentance," "duty," but only the "right" prefers the rebellion to obedience, eschews any dogma, any objectivity in the name of their own, subjective opinion, it is a monad closed that never wants to be questioned by anyone.
The man who adores her, left to his misery, struggling to ask God's forgiveness, but also to its neighbor, his wife, her husband, to his superior: it's like the Unnamed Manzoni, who did not see "anything either above himself or herself or higher", it ends up really believe almighty, becoming a tyrant sad and lonely . The man who loves not difficult to recognize in creation, in the next, in a child ... an unexpected gift from God, sacred, mysterious, which is prohibited to set impious and sacrilegious hands. It 'then must be recognized that the Church, and with it the world can be saved only if the liturgy brings back its space and its role: if you come back to build real cathedral, with crosses, altars raised, crypts, towering domes, canopies, the kneelers ... Theater for a performance not human, but places where a soul may rise for a moment where the air is pure, it can receive the boon to cross the desert, can tap into the mystery, and have someone who is not 's dumb idol, to praise, thank, worship, beg, with an open heart and abandoned.
